Crisis suspends modern dump implementation near Zapolyarny

The dump near Nikel. Trucks unload garbage down to the ground and then they set fire over heaps. These days, this is an only way to utilize garbage in Pechenga district

Pechenga district municipality issued a decree dated by 18.09.2009, which says that some of the municipal goal targeted programs to be suspended. The reason was financial crisis that caused the lack of money in the district's budget. Decision was made by the Council of deputies.

One of the program was building of new modern recycling area near Zapolyarny. The Council approved this program in summer 2008.

The plan was to find place for the recycling area before mid of 2009, start building in the end of 2010 and to launch recycling in the end of 2011, writes Pechenga newspaper.

ØFAS, East-Finnmark waste utilization company earlier expressed an interest in this project.
